Friends of Nevada County Military

Brittany Retherford writes about the "Sunny celebration" of the 4th of July Parade. July 5, 2005

Residents show in droves to annual parade
Among the many other parade participants was Friends of Nevada County Military - an organization that meets monthly to send packages off to soldiers overseas and support each other while loved ones are away from home. The group's founder, Fred Buhler, said he was impressed with the amount of support the group received during the parade.
Our whole family was in town for the parade, daughters, husbands and grandkids, even our Boston daughter flew home. We have conservatives, liberals, Democrats, Independents and Republicans in the family. Conversations can get quite lively at times around the holiday dinner table. On this 4th of July the whole family stood and clapped when the Friends of Nevada County Military passed, as did everyone near by. It was a moving moment for this Air Force Vet.

I like when people can put aside their differences in honor of respecting people in the service.
