Jeff Cowen writes in Letters to the Editor that transportation officals are Out of touch, November 15, 2004

The Union's report on cuts to the Gold Country Stage night routes is the latest in the ongoing story of a transportation system that is out of touch with our community's needs.

This is not a time to cut routes. Instead, transit officials should be seeking ways to increase service and ridership..
The simple fact is, it is the loss of riders that caused the termination of services. The buses have been running, but riders are not using the bus services. By law the bus service fare box has to make a small percentage of the service costs. Not enough riders, not enough fares, the service is canceled.

So, the community has expressed it’s needs. If does not need the evening bus service. More details on why people are not riding the bus here.
