NC Media Watch

A quest for reason and accuracy in letters to the editor, guest editorials and other issues of interest to the citizens of Western Nevada County.

Chuck Idler wrote a critique on August 12, 2004 of Sarah Palmer's Other Voices, but went on to present his own views in: Serving our county

“Unlike President Clinton, who had the support of our NATO allies and the U.N. when he committed troops to stop the bloodbaths in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bush unilaterally conducted a pre-empted strike against a defenseless Iraq.”

Really? Unilateral means: “Obligating only one of two nations.” Bush was supported by Britain, Australia, Poland, Spain, the Arab States, and are currently supported by 30 nations, including many NATO States. That is a lot more than one nation. Perhaps Chuck thinks that "unilaterally" really means without France and Germany.

Tell me what you think
